In his 2024 Annual Chairman’s Letter to Investors, Larry Fink devoted a whole chapter to ‘Energy Pragmatism’. While most nations are scrambling toward an energy transition to renewables, leaders are also increasingly concerned about energy security.
As Chairman of BlackRock, the world's largest asset manager and global investment company, Mr Fink is hearing more leaders talk about decarbonisation and energy security together under the joint banner of what you might call ‘energy pragmatism’.
He wrote, “Everybody from Prime Ministers to energy grid operators are saying the opposite to what you often hear from activists on the far left and right who say that countries have to choose between Renewables or Oil & Gas. These leaders believe that the world still needs BOTH for a number of years to come.”
Hydrobe® could offer a solution that links all sides of the debate.
Hydrobe® technology is a carbon recycling solution that decarbonises existing energy sources, while generating products aligned with the energy transition. Through a sequence of biological processes, emissions containing carbon dioxide (plus water) are converted into an organic matter rich in lipids and proteins, while exhausting large quantities of green hydrogen.
The result is green energy and a high-quality feedstock for fertiliser, animal feed, bioplastics and biofuels production.
The Hydrobe® process fixes carbon dioxide into forms of solid carbon useful to the energy transition, without adding to demands on the grid. It’s a good example of energy pragmatism that will help stakeholders achieve carbon reduction targets without giving up reliable energy generation.
